Plenticiding the Sixth Extinction : more Hunger Plan than Auschwitz

I do not think some/much/most/all of humanity is setting out to totally eliminate particular non-human species as the Nazis tried to do to the Jews and the Hutus to the Tusis.

Except for the smallpox virus, I don't think Humanity has ever tried to deliberately kill off all of a particular species of life at one go.

So no sins of plenticidal commission here.

But Humanity has always been perfectly willing to turn people out of their homes in dead of winter while burning their villages, bedding, and food stores, killing their animals and poisoning their wells.

It takes two to Holocaust : a bully of course - but never forget the bystander

Three percent of the world was Hitler's Germany - the bully.

The almost ninety seven other percent of the world was the bystander.

Point three of one percent of the world was the Jewish victim - the primary grade child in this school yard "fight" between that tiny child and a hulking high school football guard .

Modernization means a plenitude of new plenitudes ; Modernity means plenticide

Modernization is an objective set of conditions ( a globalizing plenitude of new plenitudes) that became noticeable with particular force in the 1870s and has never really left us.

Modernity - by contrast - arose in frightened reaction against this sudden overwhelming plethora of plethoras and was/is a subjective condition - a mental state.

urbanization does not mean country people come into a city but that the city extends out to the countryside

It is alleged that under the modernizing forces of the 1870s and 1880s , huge cities suddenly sprung up around the world that were more crowded than the cities before them.

It is true that they were much bigger than traditional cities - but they were also less not more crowded than earlier cities.

This myth allows urbanization is be set off as the straw dog opposite of the co-current trend of globalization.

The plenitude of global Commensality

Thankfully , the human pruning of the plenitude of nature (the plenticide of The Sixth Extinction) is unlikely to be ever complete.

Under Modernity, compassion that extended beyond national borders was race-treason

Like the "hard sayings" of Christ , agape love is the "hard love" of Christ.

It means showing compassion to people who aren't "our kind of people".

Bullies need Bystanders : WWII provided plenty of both

The Axis were the Bullies of course.

But to a shocking degree, the Allies and the Neutrals were the Bystanders.

Individuals in all nations confounded this national stereotyping - some for better , many for worse.

Germany, a relatively small nation with only three percentage of the world's population and natural resources wanted to kill all of Europe's Jews.

Bully : bad, bad bully.

But it took almost all of the remaining 97% of the world to stand by and let them,  for it to actually happen.

Bystanders : bad, bad bystanders...

The Holocaust's TWIN plenticides

The Axis plenticide denied the Jews the right to exist. The Allied plenticide denied us to right to act compassionately against their fate.

One war : two war crimes ....

WWII's plenticide was against compassion as well as the right of all to exist

It is well known that WWII was a deadly assault against the plenitude of the many different human ethnicities and classes.

Nazis and Communists and Japanese militarists all acted as if the human gene pool was a fetid swamp , better off drained of all Jews, Romas, Polish intellectuals ,Russian Kulaks, Chinese peasants and the handicapped.

They argued that at an abstract level, mainstream Science supported their interest in a program of active genetic pruning - and they weren't really wrong.

The "soft sayings" of the Atlantic Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Talking the talk is so so easy - just ask FDR and Churchill.

But walking the talk is so so much harder - just ask FDR and Churchill.

WWII's Agape Penicillin : the Plentitude of Love and Being rebukes the Plenticide of Love and Being

In this scientifically-dominated culture, most of us  already know what biodiversity means : it means plenty of genes, of species, of habitats - the more the better.

In more formal language, it means a Plenitude (plenty of) of Being (living beings).

But the religious concept of Agape love and Agape kindness usually needs a bit of an explanation.

Plenticide : a working definition

Plenticide means reducing the gene pool - but not your own gene pool. It means reducing the species and the species strains - but never your own strain .  It means reducing habitats - but never your own habitat.

It is just good old fashioned pre-Darwin selfishness dressed up in new post-Darwin science talk.

Henry Dawson's "wartime penicillin for ALL" : plenitude enough to re-unite a humanity divided by a plenticidal war

Wartime's  other  Manhattan Project

It was a very hard saying, this constant call of Dr Henry Dawson that we needed abundant penicillin - now !

Abundant enough to save all in the world who would die without it.  And we need it now.  Particularly now, in the middle of this all-out total war called WWII.
